Horizon Fisheries Pvt Ltd was incorporated on 30th April 2003 in the Maldives with the aim of conducting fisheries related business. The company started its operation on 16th of September 2003 after taking over the Maandhoo Fisheries Complex (MFC) from the Maldivian Government through a competitive public bidding process.

Although located in the Laamu Atoll the company presently has license from the Maldivian Government to manage and operate fisheries projects in fishing Zones 3 and 4 of the Country recognized as those most abundant in fish resources.

In a short period we have become one of the leading fish processing and marketing companies in the country. The head office is situated in the Capital of the Maldives, Male and the processing operations are carried out at the Maandhoo Fisheries Complex (MFC) Laamu Atoll.

Our activities include the Collection, Storage, Processing and Marketing of Tuna and Tuna related products and our major international markets presently supplied are Thailand, China, Japan, Iran, Oman, and New-Zealand. Since our inception we have been exporting whole frozen Skipjack Tuna, whole frozen Yellowfin Tuna and dried fish (Maldive Fish).

We own and manage a fleet of vessels to assist in the collection of fresh Skipjack Tuna and Yellowfin Tuna from different fishing grounds within our permitted fishing zones.
Our vessels include 5 Collector vessels and 5 Mother vessels.

Since the inception of the company we have heavily invested and diversified our business to meet both the needs of the Maldivian fishing industry and most importantly our international customers.

Our new World Class Canned Tuna Processing Factory is capable of processing 100 MT per day of raw material for canning/Pouch/Cooked Loins , 15 MT per day at the Fresh Tuna Loins plant , 15 MT at the Katsuobushi plant and 10 MT Dried Fish(Maldive Fish).
We are committed to producing and delivering the highest quality tuna products that are caught by the traditional and the most sustainable method of Skipjack fishing, Pole and Line.

The Maldives Skipjack Fishery is 100% Pole and Line and as such protects the marine environment and other ocean species such as Dolphins, Turtles and avoids non-targeted by catch.  

Maandhoo Fisheries Complex ( MFC

Production from this state of the art processing plant  includes, Canned Tuna, Tuna Pouches, Cooked and Fresh Loins, Katusuobushi, Fish Meal and a number of value added products that will be sold to local and international Markets.

An additional 2500 MT of cold storage and brine freezing has been constructed at Maandhoo Fisheries Complex (MFC) to meet our new processing capabilities.  

Huvadhoo Fisheries Complex

Further project investment includes the construction of a 3000 MT cold storage and infrastructure development under progress at Huvadhoo Fisheries Complex (HFC) located at Hoadhedhoo in Gaafu Dhaalu Atoll . This is planned to be operational by end 2008. 

Quality Assurance

We are certified for ISO 9001:2000 Quality Management System, ISO 14001:2004 Environmental Management System and BRC Global Standard by Det Norske Veritas.

Work is now underway for the accreditation of laboratory, certification of ISO 22000:2005, Food Safety Management System, and International Food Standard
